Frequently Asked Questions

If something here isn't a straight answer, tell us and we'll fix it.

The scan(5)

What exactly does Pennny read?
Two years of your mail history, looking for six specific things: delay notices from airlines and railways, charges that appear twice, charges that continued after you cancelled, subscriptions that started from a free trial, receipts for things that broke inside their guarantee, and the confirmations that prove each one. It reads. It never sends, never spends, and never changes a thing in your mailbox.
Do you store my emails?
No. Raw email bodies are processed in memory and never written down. What is kept is the handful of evidence snippets that prove a specific claim — the amount, the date, the order number, and the line of the email they came from.
How do I disconnect?
One tap, from your settings. Your access tokens are revoked and wiped immediately and nothing is scanned again. Claims already in progress carry on, because they rest on the evidence already gathered and on a separate legal basis — and you can stop any of those individually too.
How long does the first scan take?
About a minute for most mailboxes. You'll see a live counter of how many emails have been read and how many opportunities have been found so far.
What if you find nothing?
Then we tell you that. We'd rather say nothing than invent a claim that fails. The scan was free either way.

Your approval(3)

Does Pennny email companies as me?
Only after you've read the letter and approved it. It then goes from your own mailbox, and the company replies to you — never to us. Every reminder and every reply needs its own fresh yes.
Can I change the letter?
Yes, any of it. What you approve is what goes out: we fingerprint the approved text and compare it to what is about to send. One character different and it does not send.
Will it ever act on its own?
No. There is no setting that lets Pennny send on your behalf without a fresh approval for that specific message. That is the rule the whole product is built on.

The fee(5)

When do I actually pay anything?
Only after money has reached your own bank account. The company pays you directly, and we invoice our 30% plus VAT afterwards. If the claim fails, there is no invoice.
What if I only get part of it back?
Then the fee is 30% plus VAT of what actually arrived, not of what we asked for.
What if they offer a voucher instead of money?
Vouchers and account credit carry no fee. We only ever charge on money that reaches your account.
Do I need Premium to make a claim?
No. Claiming is on no-cure-no-pay for everyone, and the rate is the same 30% plus VAT on Free and on Premium. Premium buys continuous monitoring, alerts and priority support — it does not buy a better rate.
Does Pennny ever hold my money?
No. The recovery goes from the company straight into your own account. Pennny is never in the payment path.

Privacy & security(3)

What access does Pennny actually get?
A read-only scope on Gmail or Outlook, granted by you through the provider's own consent screen, and revocable by you at any time from there or from Pennny.
Can I get my data out, or delete it?
Yes to both. A machine-readable export within 72 hours, and deletion under GDPR article 17 — mailbox tokens go immediately, the rest within 30 days.

Getting started(2)

When can I actually use it?
Pennny launches on 1 October 2026. Leave your email and you'll be in the first group.
Do I need a card to start?
No. The first deep scan is free, and there is no card at any point unless you choose Premium.

Still deciding?

The scan is free and tells you the only thing that matters: whether there is money in there.
